The Current Boom in the Dump Semi-Trailer Market

 What is a dump semi-trailer?

A dump semi-trailer is a subdivision product of trailers which is a kind of semi-trailer that can realize self-dumping. Compared with other trailer products, it has advantages such as easy operation, high transportation efficiency, low material residue rate, and labor saving, so it is a very popular trailer in the logistics transportation market.

Based on the unloading method, dump semi-trailers can be divided into side dump semi-trailers and rear dump semi-trailers. Among the two types of dump semi-trailers, the side dump semi-trailer is the most popular and the mainstream product because the lifting of the hydraulic cylinder of the rear dump semi-trailer is too long and the center of gravity is too high after lifting, which makes it susceptible to rollover accidents on uneven roads.

The emergence of dump semi-trailers

The dump semi-trailer should now be called a standard dump semi-trailer, which can be divided into two stages: the first stage is a flatbed dump semi-trailer, and the second stage is a standard dump semi-trailer.

1. The appearance of flatbed dump semi-trailer and its ban

The flatbed dump semi-trailer is a “gray area” product that takes advantage of policy loopholes. Regulations require that the height of the cargo compartment of the trailer should not exceed 600mm. However, some subdivided markets for large blocks of stones cannot use stake semi-trailers, which gave birth to the flatbed dump semi-trailer.

As the market operates, speculators begin to take advantage of the loopholes in operation. Flatbed dump semi-trailers can transport large rocks as well as removable “big boxes.” From another perspective, large rocks become “big boxes,” so articulated box flatbed dump semi-trailers also appeared, which are also called “container dump semi-trailers” by users.

2. Standard dump semi-trailers come on stage

Strict policies and regulations, coupled with strict implementation, have led users to choose standard dump semi-trailers.

Due to structural limitations, if the cargo box of a rear dump semi-trailer is too long, the lifting after the dump may cause the vehicle’s center of gravity to be too high and unstable, and it may cause accidents on uneven ground. Therefore, according to standard regulations, the overall length of its compartment is generally 8-10m, the maximum outer width of the compartment is 2.55m, the maximum inner width is 2.45m, the highest height of the stake is 0.6m, and the maximum effective volume is 14.7m.

Since the lifting height of the side dump semi-trailer is not as high as that of the rear dump semi-trailer, the longest length of the side dump semi-trailer can reach the required 13m by regulations, the maximum outer width of the compartment is 2.55m, the maximum inner width is 2.45m, the highest height of the stake is 0.6m, and the maximum effective volume is 19.1m.
